Capturing a Fleeting Moment
"I find beauty in almost every aspect of life and enjoy painting landscapes, seascapes, still life and florals and even figures. The perpetual contest between nature and the man-made is a never-ending source of interest. Nature always wins and I love documenting that fact."
Sherry grew up in Minnesota. After her marriage, the couple spent 5 years at various Army hospitals around the world. When her husband left the army, they moved to the Frisco area just north of Dallas, TX.
Sherry has always been drawn to the arts and crafts beginning in textiles and learning to sew clothing at 10 years of age. While raising a family took over her time and left little margin for art, she continued sewing and began to branch out into other areas. Eventually she migrated to bookbinding, adding letterpress printing and calligraphy to fill out the content of artist books. A chance encounter with a drawing teacher inspired her to take a second look at painting. She has spent many weekends at workshops around the country as well as local instruction.
Currently she paints in oil and pastel. Landscapes were the initial inspiration for her subjects. Nowdays most any subject can draw her to the canvas.
