Art is simply something inherent inside me that I have to create.
I get inspired by different things around me. It could be dilapidated mailboxes on the side of the street that look like they are talking to each other. Or time spent at the ocean watching the waves, people sunning and swimming. I take pictures wherever I go for future inspiration - there is always something intriguing to me.
Painting a piece all in one day is rare – I like to sketch a scene first and then let it sit in its own space. This process gives the piece a chance to breathe, and it allows me time to consider the composition from a more objective point of view.
Watercolor is currently my primary medium, although I am painting a lot more using PanPastels which I am loving. My work varies from impressionistic to abstract - it depends on my mood. I have also been doing some painting with acrylic paint. I believe exploring color suits me most. I like to challenge myself to see what I can come up with. I want people to discover some kind of emotion when they view my artwork or make them analyze what they are viewing. I do try to make my audience feel warm and happy as there is so much going on in the world they don’t need to feel sad or disturbed looking at my art.
I paint how I feel, illustrating to my audiences the beauty of something around them and how it influences their own lives.
